I love shooting at the golden hour…especially with somebody that I admire so much as Dannielle. I wanted to feature the editing process of an image that I love so much. One hundred percent was done in Lightroom.

Because I am human, I regularly make mistakes. But what is really cool is when I get it wrong in my camera and yet have the ability to fix it in Lightroom in seconds! This is a Before/After of a recent sunset at The Morton Arboretum.

There are days that, no matter what I try, things go against me. Here I have barely any light, it was the end of a shoot, so I’m pretty shaky. I LOVE this image…I love the composition, Morgan’s sweet expression, her relaxed stance, and I know it’s weird but I love the way the dress flows in front of her. But the image is not technically great, not even good. At this moment, I think I needed an off-camera flash. So this is where editing comes in! I did the usual in Lightroom and then took it to Photoshop and applied a little bit of Florabella’s Blue French and Sable on it. Brought it back to Lightroom and finished. So now the photo becomes a beautiful memory that I can share with my client. :)

When it comes to picking out a photographer for your family, I think it all boils down to how the photographer edits his/her photos. We all can take a photo with the same pose, same equipment, same stats, but our individual decisions on how to edit will give you a glimpse of our style and personality. So hopefully you’ll see enough consistency in the photographer’s work to know what you like and don’t like and make your decision accordingly.

Connor Price, Angelo Molineri, and Eryn Pablico were visiting from Toronto and Vegas. We thought it would be fun to take them downtown Chicago. :) While having fun at Millennium Park, Angelo, Eryn, and Chloe decided to film their Lovebug/Jonas Brothers music video. We wrapped the day with having deep dish pizza at Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria. Such a perfect day!
